! Self-contradictory metadata

age: two sequence archives disagree for 1 sample (e.g. 19.0 vs 7042.0) — withheld.

The sources disagree on 1 sample. Where two incompatible values exist for one sample (or one person's samples disagree on sex), neither value is published: the field is left empty here, in the sample sheet and in the downloads. Both sides, with their sources, are in gut_metadata_contradictions.parquet of the data package (what counts as a contradiction).

Archive description

Introduction: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), cryopyrinopathies (CAPS) and mevalonate deficiency (MKD) are autoinflammatory diseases with gastrointestinal involvement. Dysbiosis has been suggested with 16S rRNA sequencing in FMF. Objective: to describe gut microbiota in FMF, CAPS, and MKD using shotgun sequencing. Methods: 88 FMF, 13 CAPS, and 5 MKD adult patients underwent fecal shotgun metagenomic sequencing and metabolomic profiling. Results: FMF patients exhibited gut dysbiosis: reduced diversity, depletion of SCFA-producing bacteria and bacteriophages. No dysbiosis was detected in CAPS or MKD. Conclusion: Gut dysbiosis in FMF may contribute to inflammation. The absence of dysbiosis in CAPS and MKD suggests different mechanisms.
