Early-life gut microbiota and colonisation resistance

Role_of_early_life_gut_microbiota_in_colonisation_resistance_development

772 samples studied to understand how bifidobacteria colonise the infant gut, modulate colonisation resistance, and how antibiotic-induced disturbances affect this community and pathogen protection. Country, age, and health details are not specified. machine-written summary

772 samples · 168 runs · Infant / toddler · 2018 · 1.02 Gbp / sample

Archive description

The aim is to understand how (i) bifidobacteria colonise the gut and (ii) subsequently modulate critical colonisation resistance, and to understand how (iii) early life antibiotic-induced disturbances alter this microbial community, ultimately leading to a breakdown in pathogen protection. Another key goal is to (iv) identify bifidobacterial communities that can restore a disturbed early life microbiota back into one able to control gut infection. These data are part of a pre-publication release. For information on the proper use of pre-publication data shared by the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (including details of any publication moratoria), please see http://www.sanger.ac.uk/datasharing/
