Archive description

The COLO-COHORT study, a multi-centre, UK-based observational study led by Newcastle University, investigates the gut microbiome’s role in colorectal health and disease to enhance colorectal cancer prevention and early detection. A subset of participants (adults ≥18 years) from a broader cohort undergoing colonoscopy provided stool samples prior to bowel preparation, collected using a faecal immunochemical test kit (OC Sensor, Mast Diagnostics) and processed in two batches for high-throughput shotgun metagenomic sequencing. Comprehensive phenotyping, including colonoscopic findings, alongside detailed clinical and lifestyle metadata, supports research into disease mechanisms and non-invasive screening tools for colorectal neoplasia and CRC.
