longitudinal
32 of 36 people sampled more than once (96 samples; median 3, up to 3 per person) · follow-up median 2 mo (max 2 mo) · median interval between samples 32 d (time from collection dates).
Each row is one person (32 shown); dots are samples at days since that person's first sample.

- Gut microbiome dynamics and functional shifts in healthy aging: insights from a metagenomic study. 2025 PMID 41048504 PMC12490327 own_data
Archive description
Population aging represents a significant challenge in contemporary society. The gut microbiome plays a critical role in maintaining host health and physiological functions, and its alterations with advancing age are closely associated with the process of healthy aging. This study conducted a comprehensive analysis of the gut microbiome in 100 healthy elderly individualsresiding in Changshou Town, Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province, utilizing metagenomic sequencing technology. The primary objective was to investigate the changes in the gut microbiome and its potential functions during the latter stages of life. Participants were categorized into three distinct age groups: the young elderly group, the middle elderly group, and the longevity elderly group.
