Sampling design and relatedness

longitudinal — not resolvedFMT donor → recipient — not resolved

100 of 109 people sampled more than once (378 samples; median 4, up to 15 per person). Schedule stated by the source: “Repeated fecal sampling of UC patients before and after FMT intervention; exact day offsets not stated in provided metadata.”.

FMT study: UC patient recipients received stool from non-urbanized donors; exact donor-recipient pairing counts not given in metadata..

Archive description

This BioProject encompasses a comprehensive multi-omic study of a fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) treatment cohort comprising Bai ethnic group participants. The study integrates three complementary sequencing datasets to investigate the dynamics of gut microbiota and host mucosal responses during FMT therapy: 1) Fecal whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing, to profile the composition, functional potential, and temporal changes of the luminal gut microbiome 2) Intestinal mucosal 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, to characterize the mucosa-associated microbial community and its response to FMT 3) Intestinal mucosal RNA sequencing (transcriptomics), to assess host gene expression changes in the intestinal epithelium and elucidate host-microbiota interactions underlying FMT efficacy. This multi-omic resource aims to advance our understanding of FMT-mediated gut microbiome modulation and host-microbe crosstalk in a distinct ethnic population, providing a foundational dataset for future translational research on FMT therapies.
