40 of 43 people sampled more than once (117 samples; median 3, up to 3 per person) · follow-up median 3 mo (max 4 mo) · median interval between samples 59 d (time from collection months (month precision)). Schedule stated by the source: “Rectal swabs 1 day preoperatively, 3 weeks and 3 months postoperatively” (time origin: surgery); stated follow-up 3 mo.
Each row is one person (36 shown of 40); dots are samples at days since that person's first sample.

- Comparison of the effects of stent-based diversion technique versus prophylactic double-lumen ileostomy on intestinal flora in postoperative patients with rectal cancer. 2026 PMID 42553918 PMC13436953 own_data
Archive description
The stent-based diversion technique (SDT), as a novel surgical approach for reducing anastomotic leakage(AL) following low anterior resection(LAR), achieving effective intestinal diversion while avoiding ileostomy and subsequent stoma reversal surgery. Although multicenter randomized controlled trials have demonstrated the safety of SDT, the alterations in postoperative intestinal microbiota following SDT remain inadequately characterized.
