! Self-contradictory metadata

sex differs between samples of the same subject id (70 subjects, 140 samples) — sex withheld; subject ids shared by samples of both sexes (70 ids, 140 samples) — ids withheld.

The sources disagree on 140 samples. Where two incompatible values exist for one sample (or one person's samples disagree on sex), neither value is published: the field is left empty here, in the sample sheet and in the downloads. Both sides, with their sources, are in gut_metadata_contradictions.parquet of the data package (what counts as a contradiction).

Archive description

This study will characterize the role of human-associated bacteria in health and disease from a sample set collected in Fiji. The study seeks to find out how people share benign bacteria that live in guts, mouths and skin with each other and with their domestic animals and surroundings. There are several diseases that are spread by bacteria between humans and between humans and their livestock. Through this study, the researchers want to determine how much bacterial sharing goes on between humans and their domestic animals.
